Location

Cobble Cottage is situated in a lovely quiet courtyard.  Just outside the courtyard is the village square with all the main amenities of the village (including two great pubs, tea rooms, fish & chip shop, Pizzeria, two local food shops, post office, butchers).

There are very few properties to rent that have such a good location as Cobble Cottage does.  We are located at the head of the Coombe Valley in the beautiful rural part of North Cornwall.  The photo above is taken on the drive down the valley towards the coast, just three miles away.  Cobble Cottage is a great base for exploring the surrounding areas, including Bude, Hartland, Clovelly and the market town of Holsworthy.  Slightly further into Cornwall is Boscastle (35 minutes drive), Tintagel, Port Isaac and Padstow.

Kilkhampton is a conservation village with an interesting history and often features in the best kept village awards, there has been a village here for hundreds of years and the original strip field system can be seen along with tiny cottages hidden up narrow alleys.

The seaside town of Bude, with its stunning beaches, is 5.5 miles away.  Within a 4 mile drive down quiet country lanes, you’ll find the beautiful National Trust beaches, ‘Sandymouth’ and ‘Duckpool’. Both are dog friendly.  A little further a field; Padstow is approximately 30 miles away, Port Isaac 25 miles, while Barnstaple is 30 miles from the property.

Things to do

There are wonderful walks from the Cottage with beautiful scenery, including Kilkhampton Common. Within a short car-ride there are many other holiday attractions for visitors including: The Big Splash (swimming pool).  Horse riding, golf, surfing.  A bit further afield is ‘The Big Sheep’, and ‘Milky Way Adventure Park’ in Bideford (20.5 miles, 30 minutes drive from the Cottage).

pubs & restaurants

There are many great pubs in the area.  Here are some of our favourites:
